We Bought a Zoo
Based on the book by Benjamin Mee
Written by Aline Brosh McKenna & Cameron Crowe
Directed by Cameron Crowe
“Set in Southern California, a father moves his young family to the countryside to renovate and re-open a struggling zoo.”
Cameron Crowe isn’t necessarily a prolific filmmaker, but every time he does actually make a film, it typically tends to be a bit of a special event in one way or another, and often his unorthodox films become hits (Jerry Maguire, for example) but every once in a while there is an Elizabethtown, which didn’t get bad reviews, but didn’t get much attention, either.
Here, he has the deadly combo of Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, kids, animals, and an entire zoo, and of course, it’s based on a true story. Perfect for the holidays, even though it’s not a Christmas film, it’s uplifting and light, so it will earn some good family money.
