Comic book movies might be the big thing right now, but way back in 1998 Wesley Snipes was paving the way as the iconic vampire slayer Blade and he did so again and again with two sequels.
Sure, Blade: Trinity sort of killed all hopes of another great Blade film anytime soon, but there’s still hope according to the actor himself.
He recently sat down with Marvel and had this to say about it:
“The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things. I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.”
I like that Snipes is remaining optimistic and staying pretty close with Marvel in talks of rebooting Blade for a possible Netflix solo show or appearance, but I just don’t see Marvel making another sequel or using Snipes again.
I’m sure they’ll reboot the character and maybe even offer him up a supporting role or cameo, but I feel like the Snipes Blade days are long gone.
The actor went on to say:
“That’s a possibility too. I’ve always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and I’d be nice to be a part of the family again. But if we don’t to a Blade 4 or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else. We have some other characters and some other concepts that are going to be just as exciting and hopefully just as successful. The first season of The Player will be interesting as well because we have drama and action, which is what I like. It gives me a chance to do a number of different things.”
