It’s been a long time since I’ve done a weekend run down. I used to do these every week, but then things sort of got out of control and updating became random. Now I’m back and I plan on doing these quick little articles each and every week, to make sure that you’re spending your money at the movie theater this weekend in a wise manner.
This weekend starts to ramp up on the summer blockbusters. We’ve got The Hangover Part III, Fast & Furious 6 and Epic, with Before Midnight getting a very limited release.
I’ve seen and reviewed The Hangover Part III (click here for my full review) and I can honestly say that it’s just not worth it. Die hard fans of the first two films won’t need my advice when it comes to checking this one out, but if you’re like me and thought that the second one sucked, then you might want to stay away from this one, because while it’s slightly better it’s still not all that good.
Fast & Furious 6 is also a let down, proving that there’s such thing as too much of a good thing. My full review will run tomorrow, but just know that it’s no Fast Five and is instead a step backwards in terms of a well-balanced piece of popcorn entertainment.
I have no comments on Epic, simply because I’ve seen maybe one trailer and probably won’t be catching this one in theaters, because it’s very rare that I go out and see an animated feature on the big screen.
The verdict? See Fast & Furious 6 if you absolutely have to see a new release. Otherwise, catch something that’s been out a while, like Pain & Gain or The Great Gatsby. Or save your money for Man of Steel.
