I hope you didn’t sit through the MTV Movie Awards last night like I did, because it was truly one of the most idiotic award shows I’ve ever seen. Never in a million years would I have thought The Twilight Saga or The Hunger Games would beat out Drive, but at least Drive got a few nominations!
One good thing came directly from the awards show and another during the commercials. Christopher Nolan alongside Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt introduced a new Catwoman-centered clip from The Dark Knight Rises, plus a brand new TV spot aired sometime during the first half of the show.
The newly introduced clip strikes me as kind of odd. It reveals more of the massive scope of destruction and hopelessness, but it also comes off a tad on the sillier side, which is weird for a Nolan directed Batman film. He’s usually all about grit and realism and parts of this clip brings me back to stuff like Batman & Robin. I’m not sure if it’s simply the dialogue from Anne Hathaway‘s Catwoman or what, but it doesn’t feel right.
Bane is looking great and his voice doesn’t sound as altered as the second full-length trailer, which is a plus.
The TV spot is more quick clips of the money shots, plus some much needed humor between Morgan Freeman and Christian Bale.
