Well if we didn’t already believe it, we better now because Vin Diesel says so. While doing an interview with THR, Diesel goes on to confirm that there will be a 7th Fast and the Furious film. He goes on to the explain that the sixth and the seventh are currently being written together by Chris Morgan.
Of course it comes as no surprise that there will be a another film. Obviously if you have seen Fast Five you understand that but to hear that the seventh one is being written at the same time is kind of surprising to me. Yet, at the same time it makes sense. Universal is trying to capitalize on the huge success that this franchise has had.
“With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space. We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages. The studio said, ‘You can’t fit all that story in one damn movie!’”
As of right now, no other cast members have been confirmed for the sixth and seventh Fast and Furious films besides Diesel. Keep in mind that since the scripts are still being written, it makes sense to not have cast members set in stone yet. Fast and Furious 6 is set to hit theaters on May 24th, 2013. The seventh installment is said to be released some time between 6 and 12 months following the release of Fast and Furious 6.
