Gears of War 4 is stirring up the video game world, which means of course there’s going to be talk (again) of a possible live-action movie adaptation.
Look, video game movies are rarely (and I really do mean rarely) any good, but they’ll keep coming as long as they make some sort of money or profit.
Gears of War is no exception and it looks like Universal is finally pulling the trigger on the film, with the following quote coming out to the press:
The film adaptation, announced during a livestream for the upcoming release of Gears of War 4, is being developed with Universal Pictures under the eye of veteran film producers Scott Stuber (“Ted,” “The Kingdom”) and Dylan Clark (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”). A movie based on the popular third-person shooter franchise has been rumored for years, but Rod Fergusson, studio head of game developer The Coalition, said now was the right time to make the leap to film.
That’s great and all, but until we got a rock solid cast and crew, I don’t really feel the need to invest anymore time into this possible film.
