Universal Adds 2 More Directors To The ‘Fast & Furious 8’ Shortlist

Just yesterday we reported on Universal’s possible choices for Fast & Furious 8 directors, with Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray in the lead.

But now we have two more directors to add to that list, with one of them being probably one of the worst decisions, while the other brings an entire new vision to the table.

The first is Now You See Me/The Incredible Hulk‘s Louis Leterrier. I’m not actually against Leterrier’s work and sometimes even think that the man is panned a tad too much, but he’s always going to be a vision-less journeyman that simply points and shoots.

He knows how to shoot action, well sorta, but I’m sure he’ll turn in a generic, if only sometimes edgy and exciting Fast & Furious film.

The second director is You’re Next and The Guest director Adam Wingard. Now Wingard is a director that I can get behind, because he’s proved himself time and time again and on a much smaller budget.

He’s never done something quite like a Fast & Furious film, but his understanding of how action works is top-notch and he’s got a heck of a eye.

Neither of these men are confirmed, nor is F. Gary Gray really. Maybe Universal will hire someone else entirely or drop a new list on us?
