One thing I hated about American Reunion was that it never really felt like a reunion movie. Sure, the gang was back and up to their old tricks, but no one really progressed in life or changed even slightly. It was just the same childish idiots we grew up with, but now with wrinkles and a mortgage.
Jamie Linden‘s 10 Years looks like the perfect answer to Reunion and Gary Marshall‘s horribly bloated ensemble films New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day. The film stars Ari Graynor, Justin Long, Chris Pratt, Oscar Isaac, Aubrey Plaza, Anthony Mackie, Max Minghella, Lynn Collins, Rosario Dawson and Channing Tatum. That is one massive list, full of variety.
I’m positive at least one of them will be able to make the film a worthwhile adventure.
The trailer is low key and hints at the drama while revealing some of the humor. It works because it doesn’t appear to be trying too hard and in doing so actually ends up being an effective video that makes me slightly more interested in the project.
10 Years opens on September 21st, 2012.
