Just last month, Benedict Cumberbatch dropped out of Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak for unknown reasons. Many have speculated that he dropped out of the gothic horror project for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII but the rumor has been reported as false. All we know for sure is that Cumberbatch will no longer be appearing in Crimson Peak, but don’t worry, a replacement has been found.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Hiddleston has replaced Cumberbatch in an unspecified role. Hiddleston joins the previously announced Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, and Charlie Hunnam.
Story details are very minimal at this point. All we currently know at this point is that the film centers on a young writer named Edith Cushing (Wasikowska) who discovers that her husband is not who he appears to be.
Legendary Pictures will be produce and finance the film along with Universal Pictures. Production is expected to begin in January of 2014. You can next see Hiddleston as Loki in Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World.
