Well I’ve been looking forward to this day since August. Let’s just say I’m going bananas about a release this week. Not funny? Yeah I might have stretched that one. Regardless, this week has a few different releases. Check em out.
One movie that took the theaters by storm earlier this year was Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I had seen some trailers for the movie and was pumped but had no idea that I was going to absolutely love the movie come time to watch it. Well it finally hits the shelves at your local stores. It’s being released as a Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy Combo pack. The slipcover that comes with it is awesome as well. This is definitely a movie that I could watch over and over.
Jeremy at The Daily Rotation, “If you’re looking for something that tells a strong story with a fair amount of action then you owe it to yourself to check this film out. It’s one of the best films of the summer and possibly of the year!”
The next film that was suppose to be a blockbuster but just reached it’s production budget was that of Kung Fu Panda 2. Dreamworks was hoping to capitalize on the success of the original Kung Fu Panda. However they failed, just like they did with Cars 2. Alright, they didn’t do as terrible with Kung Fu Panda 2 as they did with Cars 2. Whatever, you get the point. They didn’t bring in as much money as they were hoping for. Personally, I found myself liking Kung Fu Panda 2. It takes off the first Kung Fu Panda and builds from there. It’s a wonderful and delightful story and has quite a bit of humor thrown into the mix. If you are interested in buying this one for your collection you’ll be able to get in 3 different versions. The first one is that of the 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy package. The second is the normal Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy package. Finally, last but not least is the Kung Fu Panda Collection. The collection features the first and the second film in one package.
Disney has their remake of Fright Night coming out this week as well. This remake did surprising well with the critics but not so well while it was in the theaters. It just barely made it half way to it’s production budget. Disney is releasing Fright Night into two different packages. The first one being Blu-ray and DVD and the second one being 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy.
Wilson here at The Daily Rotation, “The acting and dialogue should be dismissed and it could have been a bit shorter. You couldn’t really get into any of the characters because there was nothing really to get into.”
Well that is a wrap for new releases this week. It appears that there is a Transformers Trilogy pack that is being released also. Disney is also releasing their 20th Anniversary Edition of The Rocketeer. Nothing all that important this week besides Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Make sure to check that one out.
