The masters of anti-human gore have returned once again with their newest slab of rotting meaty goodness, Monolith of Inhumanity, and have debuted the first track off the record, aptly titled “A Living, Breathing Piece of Defecating Meat” for your twisted listening pleasure.
My thoughts? It’s definitely Cattle Decapitation, and it’s definitely promising. Unlike their past few releases, if this song is any indication, these San Diego based monsters seem to have shelved the all-over-the-place “technical” fuckery in favor of more straight forward, groove laden blackened death metal, and that’s all right with me. It sounds almost like the perfect mixture of To Serve Man and The Harvest Floor, and even has an almost verse/chorus/verse etc. structure to it. And those vocals! Travis Ryan has to be one of the most interesting vocalists working today. The “chorus” is especially intriguing, as Travis throws in what passes for “clean singing”, or the closest he’ll ever come to it. Can’t wait to see what the rest of this beast has in store for us all.
Monolith of Inhumanity hits stores on May 8th in the USA courtesy of Metal Blade Records. Pre-order yours here. Some packages even come with their own “Garbage Pail Kids” themed trading cards! Color me excited.
