The summer blockbusters are gearing up and Steven Soderbergh‘s little male stripping film Magic Mike is also preparing for the audiences, not with action-heavy trailers, but with lots of thongs and body oil. It doesn’t sound all that appetizing (at least for us guys), but it might make for a surprisingly good flick, full of wild characters.
Magic Mike stars Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Kevin Nash and Matthew McConaughey as male strippers and it’s partially based on real events from Tatum’s life. I’ve expressed my interest in this film several times (mostly because of Sodbergh’s direction, but also slightly because of Tatum’s recent acting spikes) and I think we’re at the point where you’re either going to be mature about the film’s subject matter and give it a shot or you’re just going to call it gay and act like a big, tough and probably insecure man.
Do what you please, but make sure to at least check the film out when it opens in theaters on June 29th, 2012.
