Out of all the recent horror films, or successful low-budget films in general I’d say The Woman in Black is one of the lowest on my list in terms of needing a sequel. The film, despite its disappointing third act, felt complete. In no way does it need a sequel by any means, yet Hammer Films is moving ahead with The Woman in Black: Angels of Death.
Bad Ass Digest received the following press statement:
The Woman in Black was set in the early 1900’s and based on the tale of a young lawyer who is ordered to travel to a remote corner of the UK, to sort out the papers of a recently deceased client. In the eerie setting of Eel Marsh House he discovers the vengeful ghost of The Woman in Black. This next installment, The Woman in Black: Angels Of Death, will continue this story four decades later and focus on the concept of a couple and the experience they have when they encounter the haunted setting of Eel Marsh House.
So, Hammer Films isn’t calling Angels of Death a direct sequel, but it will share the same location as the first film and it will share the same haunted encounters. So it is indeed a sequel, but it won’t feature Daniel Radcliffe, for obvious reasons.
Were you a fan of The Woman in Black? Are you excited to hear about a sequel?
