The Trailer For Chronicle Looks Really Good

I love smaller films that take advantage of a current trend in Hollywood. Films like Troll Hunter, an incredibly original found footage film set in Norway that follows a group of kids and a troll hunter around as they capture giant trolls! It sounds really silly on paper, but the execution is almost perfect. It has great horror elements and suspense as well as enough comedy from the whole cast to keep things fun. I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Check out my review for the Blu-ray here.

That being said, another smaller found footage film has crept to the scene with a trailer. The film is titled Chronicle and it’s a found footage film about three friends who gain superpowers after a mysterious incident. The major plot point here is when one of the friends decides to turn on the other two. Originally I thought the premise of this film and fact that it was made under the radar would turn me off from the film, but after viewing the trailer my mind was changed. This looks like a very interesting film. I want to see how they use the found footage angle to their advantage and I really want to see how they unravel the whole superpower finding aspect.

Chronicle has a release date of February 3rd, 2012.

Check out the trailer below, thanks to MTV.
