The Simpsons Arcade Game Coming To PSN Next Week

Konami’s The Simpsons Arcade Game is one of the most beloved beat-em-ups of all time, and without a doubt one of the best cartoon-based titles ever.  The video game world is no stranger to remastering and remaking classic retro games, but this is one game that has eluded any sort of home console release (outside of Commodore and DOS). Until now, that is.

Konami has stated that an Xbox 360 version of the game is coming, though it has no official release date as of right now. Here’s another perk for PSN users as well: Playstation Plus subscribers will be getting the game for free. That means zero dollars. Nobody can say that Plus members are getting shafted here. The price of the game for regular users hasn’t been revealed yet (I just love surprises), but I’d wager it to be around ten dollars or so, which isn’t bad for one of the all-time greats.

The game itself sees the player choose to play as one of four Simpsons: Homer, Marge, Bart, or Lisa. Each has a different style of attack, and they all feel very different from each other as a result, which is awesome. The goal of the game is to rescue a kidnapped Maggie from Smithers and Burns. Simple, but effective.

Everybody can catch The Simpsons Arcade Game on the Playstation Network on February 7th, 2012, and on Xbox Live Arcade…sometime. Enjoy.
