This IMAX poster is actually a good one. It’s different than the previous posters that have been released, but at the same time it’s close in theme. It has no trouble signifying the epic scale that Christopher Nolan‘s final Batman film is playing on.
I’m (obviously) excited for the film, much like the rest of the world, but I’m even more excited to check out the IMAX footage. This film has been said to feature over an hour of footage shot on IMAX cameras, which is a million times better than any 3D material that is DNR’d for IMAX screens.
I still stand firmly behind the belief that IMAX is the future of experiencing movies on a higher scale and not just 3D. Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol had me feeling like I was going to fall out of my seat, because of Brad Bird‘s breathtaking and intense footage outside of one of the world’s tallest buildings. He managed to do that in 2D and with IMAX cameras. No 3D was used and it never felt needed.
Nolan is probably going to blow that out of the water with The Dark Knight Rises, which hits theaters on July 20th.
