It was no surprise that at least one film was going to get pushed back due to the massive opening of The Dark Knight Rises and because of the crowded summer.
Tony Gilroy‘s The Bourne Legacy, starring Jeremy Renner, has pushed itself back from August 3rd to August 10th. This date change shouldn’t worry fans of the film, because it was most likely due to the opening of Sony’s Total Recall reboot on August 3rd combined with The Dark Knight Rises blow back.
Now, Legacy will only have to complete with The Campaign and Hope Springs, which are in completely different genres than the Universal action-thriller sequel based on the popular series starring Matt Damon.
It’s a smart move and it’ll probably pay off.
The Bourne Legacy now hits theaters on August 10th, 2012.
