Films have been growing and expanding ever since they were first invented. The latest dying trend is 3D, but it looks like Like Crazy director Drake Doremus is onto something even more revolutionary. His plan is to make an online-movie that starts with actors Topher Grace and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, then grows into a community film that can star literally anyone.
It sounds like a crazy idea, because it is, but it also sounds like an experimental project that could turn out to be a lot of fun for everyone involved. Toshiba & Intel are helping to put the project together and you can find out more details over on the Facebook page, but all you really need to know is that YOU could star in a movie.
The trailer can be seen below, which describes exactly how the project works. Please check it out and if you’re interested in the project make sure to head over to the Facebook page for audition information.
I for am interested in seeing how big (or little) of an impact this experimental film has on the world of indie filmmaking. It could prove to be a success and open up the floodgates for more filmmakers to climb aboard or it could simply be another experimental disaster that doesn’t garner much attention or produce much quality.
I guess we’ll find out.
