That’s right, with over half a year yet until The Amazing Spider-Man, Sony is confirming a release date for the sequel. Deadline had a chance to talk with a Sony executive and he had this to say:
I think it speaks volumes about our confidence in what we are seeing on the new film and our desire to move quickly on the next installment
I’m not too sure about that one. The trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man actually pissed a lot of people off due to its serious tone and Debbie downer attitude. I however will reserve my thoughts for a better cut trailer or more footage. I want to like The Amazing Spider-Man, but I am prepared for disappointment. I don’t think it’s really fair to judge a film based on one trailer because a lot of times first trailers can be really misleading. I don’t blame people for getting defensive though since Spider-Man is barely 10 years old and he’s already getting the reboot treatment.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be swinging its way into theaters on May 2nd, 2014.
