I think I am always going to be a life-long apologist for the Terminator franchise. After all, James Cameron‘s first two films are mostly responsible for my obsession with film.
The Terminator is still one of my all-time favorites and its sequel is still the greatest second installment of any franchise.
It’s just too bad that we’ve had to sit through one mediocre sequel and the two absolute trash-fires that followed.
Luckily for us, Linda Hamilton is back, as well as James Cameron (as a producer), with Deadpool director Tim Miller leading the charge. It’s also worth noting that Arnold Schwarzenegger is also reprising the role that put him on the damn map, in addition to some new faces.
I will admit that David Goyer‘s writing credit has me worried beyond belief, because he’s been responsible for some massive franchise stinkers in the past, but I am willing to forget all of that for a hopefully good Terminator film.
This first-look trailer really doesn’t give us much, but it sure felt good watching Sarah Connor pick up that rocket launcher and blow a Terminator half way to hell.
Please tell me this film will be rated-R and please tell me that this film will make up for the last decade-and-a-half of pure Terminator garbage.
Terminator: Dark Fate opens in theaters later this year.
