With the release of their collaboration with Lou Reed (Lulu), Metallica‘s ego is at an all time high. What can possibly make Metallica think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread? Well, apparently, they have to step out of their genre of media and take a stab at this 3D thing thats been buzzing around.
According to Deadline, the legendary thrash group is calling upon Charlotte Huggins (Journey to the Center of the Earth) to get the ball rolling on their self financed feature. Obviously, anyone who has produced something with Brendan Fraser is over-prepared to produce anything and anyone, including Metallica (that Fraser is a handful).
We have no idea what it will be about yet, but we do know they are looking for, and I quote, “A director with the stones to direct a Metallica-style feature”.
This would be the bands first major film, but not their first film in general. Less we forget 2003’s Some Kind of Monster; a documentary through the production of Metallica‘s widely disregarded St. Anger album.
Whatever monstrosity they make, be prepared for the band to make remarks saying it is the best thing they have ever done. Period.
