I know what you’re thinking, Robert De Niro in a supernatural thriller? There’s just no way that it can be any good, but the film also stars Cillian Murphy and the currently trending Elizabeth Olsen, so it might be good. Red Lights is directed by Rodrigo Cortés, who recently directed Ryan Reynolds in a box in Buried.
The film sounds like every other supernatural film we’ve seen over the past few years, but Murphy and Olsen’s involvement alone makes me kind of interested in seeing it. De Niro is so hit or miss these days, so I wouldn’t count too much on him.
Shock Till You Drop reports that Millennium Entertainment will be releasing the film on July 13th, 2012.
I leave you with the synopsis:
Two investigators of paranormal hoaxes, the veteran Dr. Margaret Matheson and her young assistant, Tom Buckley, study the most varied metaphysical phenomena with the aim of proving their fraudulent origins. Simon Silver, a legendary blind psychic, reappears after an enigmatic absence of 30 years to become the greatest international challenge to both orthodox science and professional sceptics. Tom starts to develop an intense obsession with Silver, whose magnetism becomes stronger with each new manifestation of inexplicable events. As Tom gets closer to Silver, tension mounts, and his worldview is threatened to its core.
