Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was kind of a letdown, but a letdown that I admittedly enjoyed enough to not despise it.
Sure, they’ve done (much) better before, but I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Harrison Ford as the whip-cracking Indy.
So naturally the idea of rebooting the series or showing us a younger version of the character turned me off, which is why the announcement that Steven Spielberg is returning to direct Harrison Ford once again in Indiana Jones 5 has me somewhat excited.
Does this film need to happen? Not really. But could it be much worse? You betcha.
I’m hoping that this time around they ease up on the CGI and hone in a story worth telling. Ford proved that he can deliver a great performance when engaged with the material — see Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The untitled sequel is due in theaters sometime in 2019.
