On the heels of the success of The Avengers, Marvel is seriously considering their options. We mentioned earlier today that they are interested in making another stand-alone Hulk movie with Mark Ruffalo possibly in 2015, but everyone has always wondered whatever happened to Edgar Wright‘s Ant Man, as Hank Pym was a founding Avenger in the comics.
He mysteriously tweeted the following photo without any real explanation a few days ago:
We still aren’t sure if it’s promotional material, or just something a fan sent in, but it looks like the Ant Man movie won’t be happening right away. Still Marvel development head Kevin Feige had the following to say on the matter:
“It’s somewhere. I’ll just say it’s closer than it’s ever been in its long maybe eight year history, and I usually e-mail Edgar every two or three days and over those eight years its got further away and closer… we are now closer than we’ve ever been. So I hope it will come together shortly.”
Meanwhile, Edgar Wright will be teaming up with his old buddies Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for the much anticipated World’s End that will complete their ‘Blood and Ice Cream’ Trilogy that have made them all stars. They have talked about the project before, but now they have released some plot details. Here they are:
“20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.”
Sounds interesting, and while it might not be the most exciting plot synopsis they’ve ever released, Wright and the gang haven’t missed yet, so I doubt this will be the first movie of theirs I don’t like. They plan to start shooting this fall, so hopefully we will be able to see the movie sometime next year.
