Seth Gordon; Director of one of the more successful R-rated comedies of this past summer Horrible Bosses, has signed on to direct Identity Theft. The film, formerly known as ID Theft will star Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids). The film follows a man (Bateman) whose identity has been stolen by someone else (McCarthy).
Not much else is known about production of Identity Theft, but the vague plot along with the signing of Gordon already makes it something of interest. What’s odd is very recently Warner Bros mentioned going ahead with a Horrible Bosses sequel, which Gordon is attached to, but with Identity Theft starting up you’d have to assume the Horrible Bosses sequel will be on the back burner for now.
I’m more than happy with this announcement because while I didn’t hate Horrible Bosses, I did think it was kind of disappointing. McCarthy is a hot name right now after her breakout role in Bridesmaids and what better way to follow it then to team up with the always funny Jason Bateman?
Are you glad to hear that Seth Gordon is postponing his involvement with the Horrible Bosses sequel until after Identity Theft is done? Does the film sound like a good enough idea for a comedy?
