Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone have been having quite a bit of trouble re-establishing themselves as B-movie box office stars. Both The Last Stand and Bullet to the Head failed to capture much of any money earlier this year, which means both stars must now team together for another generic-looking action picture to hopefully win the audiences over.
I actually dug both of those films that I mentioned above, because they were exactly what they promised to be, which was good old fashioned fun, unlike those shitty Expendables films.
Escape Plan looks like it could be some honest fun too, but this first trailer has me questioning director Mikael Håfström‘s ability as an action director. I really enjoyed his work on The Rite and 1408, but Escape Plan looks too much like a straight-to-DVD affair and not so much like something that would be released theatrically.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is in it and that worries me deeply.
Escape Plan opens on October 18th, 2013.
