Sony and Marvel have dropped the second trailer for Andy Serkis‘ Venom: Let There Be Carnage and I must say, it does in fact include more Carnage, played by Woody Harrelson.
What I liked so much about the first film was the unexpected hero angle that was created in Eddie Brock aka Venom, played with an overload of charm and bizarro by Tom Hardy.
There’s something about how Hardy approached the anti-hero that worked in the first film and I’m not exactly feeling those same vibes for round two.
I hope that Sony has the balls (unlikely) to go dark and R-rated with this introduction of Carnage and if not, they better give us something different and furthering in terms of plot and story. As of now, Eddie appears to be in the same place that he was at the end of the first film, which is puzzling from a viewer’s standpoint.
Is Venom: Let There Be Carnage going to give us a sneak peek at the future of the extended Sony Cinematic Universe or are they just going to ride the high until the box office numbers come down and then frantically figure out how to use these Spider-Man properties without actually using Spider-Man?
Time will tell.
