Second Trailer For Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master

I know this fall has a lot of promising titles coming out, but nothing sounds as promising as Paul Thomas Anderson‘s There Will Be Blood follow up, titled The Master. It centers on the relationship between Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and Freddie Sutton (Joaquin Phoenix) as Dodd forms a religious group called “The Cause”. The film has been screened for Scientology members and word is they’re not the biggest fans.

This latest trailer is just as vague as the previous, which is great. I love how PT Anderson markets his films and it’s sort of refreshing not having to see a preview for the preview a week in advance, followed by the real thing. Feast your eyes on the real thing below and drop a comment with your thoughts.

The Master is scheduled to open sometime later this year.

Synopsis:

A 1950s-set drama centered on the relationship between a charismatic intellectual known as “the Master” whose faith-based organization begins to catch on in America, and a young drifter who becomes his right-hand man.
