Now that’s more like it! The first trailer for Martin Scorsese‘s family adventure/drama film titled Hugo landed a little on the weak side. Coming off as an uninteresting child adventure flick that was more concerned with its 3D than its characters, but this latest trailer sort of changes that. It shifts its focus more on the drama and less on the visual beauty. Hugo doesn’t look like something I would normally be excited to see, but you can’t deny Scorsese’s ability as a filmmaker.
He’s made so many timeless classics. It’s unfair to not give him the benefit of the doubt with his first 3D film. Sure, it doesn’t look as captivating as Shutter Island or The Departed, but it looks kind of fun. Plus it has a pretty big collection of people working on it, like Sacha Baron Cohen, Chloe Grace Moretz, Jude Law, Ray Winstone and Ben Kingsley.
Hugo opens on November 23rd, 2011.

Hugo tells the story of an orphan boy living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. With the help of an eccentric girl, he searches for the answer to a mystery linking the father he recently lost, the ill-tempered toy shop owner living below him and a heart shaped lock, seemingly without a key. Based on Brian Selznick’s award winning and imaginative New York Times bestseller, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, this magical tale is Academy Award(R)-winner Martin Scorsese’s first film shot in 3D.
