Today, HBO has released a second trailer for the new show from Aaron Sorkin. After a few years writing films and flirting with Oscars, Sorkin is back to the medium which made him famous in the first place, dramatic TV. This time, he has the backing of HBO and he’s going after big news media with The Newsroom. Jeff Daniels leading a cast that includes Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, Alison Pill, and Dev Patel.
The show will center on a national news anchor that gets fed up with the way news is brought to the American people, so he decides to start letting the truth fly, with the problems landing where they may. Comedy director Greg Mottola (Adventureland, Paul) directed the pilot, and it looks like there is plenty of snappy Sorkin-isms to keep everyone entertained for the season. Daniels is a beloved actor, so I’m sure people will love to see him running loose on an HBO show. The show premieres June 24th, adding it to HBO‘s always-consistent Sunday night line-up of great shows.
