Paul Feig directed the runaway comedy hit of 2011, Bridesmaids. It was a funny flick that deserved the widespread attention, but it sort of burned itself out by the time it hit Blu-ray. I remember laughing extensively during my first theatrical viewing, but the film didn’t hold up as well as I thought it would when I revisited it on home video.
Still, Feig’s direction was solid and he managed to make a funny thing funnier. His newest film, The Heat, doesn’t have that same charm. This one returns Feig with Melissa McCarthy, while also adding Sandra Bullock and an overused plot point. The film follows the pairing of two unlikely cops that must take down some big shot drug dealer.
There’s one or two good laughs to be discovered in this otherwise dull first trailer.
I sure hope Feig is hiding the good stuff for when the film releases on April 5th, 2013.
