Sam Worthington Says ‘Avatar’ Sequels To Start Filming Next October

As director James Cameron and co. develop the sequels to the box office behemoth Avatar, actor Sam Worthington recently gave an update as to when these sequels will finally begin production. Worthington was recently a guest on the Australian radio Fitzy & Wippa on NovaFM when he revealed that Avatar 2 would begin production next October followed by two more sequels that will be produced simultaneously.

“They are still writing it,” Worthington said. “We are going to start this time next year, and we will do two, three and four. In one shot, we’ll do them simultaneously. I’ll be grateful if it finishes.”

As reported back in August, Avatar 2 will be released in December of 2016 and two more sequels will be released in December of 2017 and 2018, respectively. James Cameron is collaborating with Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Shane Salerno (Savages) on the screenplays for the sequels.

Make sure to check back for more updates as they come our way.
