Just a couple weeks ago, it was reported that Your Sister’s Sister and Promised Land actress Rosemarie DeWitt would be the female lead in MGM and Fox 2000’s remake of the 1982 classic Poltergeist. According to The Wrap, actor Sam Rockwell is in talks to join Rosemarie DeWitt in the remake.
Monster House director Gil Kenan is directing the film from a script by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer David Lindsay-Abaire, who recently wrote Oz: The Great and Powerful. According to The Wrap, Sam Rockwell is currently weighing his options before he takes the role. If he takes the role, Rockwell will play the patriarch of the Bowens, a family that is confronted by evil demonic spirits after they move into an outdated suburban home.
Sam Rockwell next appears in the thriller A Single Shot, the indie comedy Better Living Through Chemistry opposite Olivia Wilde, and Lynn Shelton’s Laggies opposite Keira Knightley and Chloe Grace Moretz.
Sam Raimi will produce the film through his Ghost House Pictures banner. Shooting is expected to begin later this year for a 2014 release.
