Sam Mendes Confirmed To Direct ‘Bond 24’ For A 2015 Release

It’s finally official. James Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and studios Sony Pictures Entertainment and MGM have announced that Skyfall director Sam Mendes will officially direct Bond 24. The currently untitled sequel already has a script intact from Skyfall writer John Logan and has an official release date set. The film will be released in the U.S. on November 6th, 2015 and in the U.K. on October 23rd 2015.

As you may recall, it was once reported that Mendes would direct both Bond 24 and 25 but soon backed out or the report was entirely false altogether. Mendes has been fickle with the decision due to his commitments to his stage version of Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. Since then, names such as Christopher Nolan, Ang Lee, Nicolas Winding Refn, Tom Hooper, and Shane Black were thrown into the mix but nothing seemed concrete.

It’s not confirmed yet whether Mendes will direct Bond 25 or not, but let’s just be happy with the fact that he’s going to be back behind the camera for Bond 24. Considering Skyfall is easily one of the best Bond films ever made, I have no doubt in my mind that the next Bond film will be fantastic.

Mendes said, “I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again, and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time.”
