Rupert Wyatt To Direct ‘Gambit’

Channing Tatum is set to star in a Gambit standalone film for Fox, which most aren’t too excited about. I know very little about the character, aside from Taylor Kitsch‘s questionable performance in the horrid X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The idea of a standalone film starring Tatum bores me, but I’ll see it and hope for the best.

The latest word is that Rise of the Planet of the Apes and The Gambler director Rupert Wyatt is taking on the project, which could bring in some much-needed quality to the project.

Rise is a fantastic reboot of the popular Apes franchise, while The Gambler is a criminally under-rated character drama that swooped in to little buzz last winter. I loved it and consider it one of the better films of the year actually.

So this naturally makes me excited, because I believe Wyatt can do good things with the film.
