After 6 years, 7 seasons, and 152 episodes, The Office is without a Regional Manager. Steve Carell (Michael Scott) longtime star of The Office left the series this past season and has left the show with a big spot to fill in the upcoming Season (Season 8).
There have been rumors as to who will be replacing Steve Carell, such as Catherine Tate, a British comedian. However, she has theatre commitments that are conflicting, so the matchup is looking more and more unlikely as time goes on. Season 8 has a lot of things that are still up in the air. Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor) also had her contract with The Office end this year, as a writer and actress for the show and it’s still uncertain if she will return in the upcoming season or not, either on-air or off. Also Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute) has noted that he’d be interested in playing the part of Dwight for another year or two.
Most of the Office characters still have one more year remaining on their contract, including John Krasinski (Jim Halpert) who has signed on for another year to stay with the Office for the next Season. Jenna Fisher (Pam Halpert) is also pregnant, and that looks like that means there will be another likely addition to the “Halpert” family on-air. Also, the new actress who joined the show at the end of Season 7, Cody Horn (Jordan Garfield) is supposed to be in a romance with Creed of all people next season. Also Stanley’s daughter is also rumored to play a more constant role on the show. The show is looking to add a few additions to fill certain roles, including an addition to the accounting department. There is a lot to still be determined about The Office Season 8 and beyond, but shooting for Season 8 will begin next month, Stay tuned.
