Rumor: Colin Trevorrow To Direct ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’

I must remind everyone that this is indeed a big rumor, but sources are claiming that Disney and Lucasfilm will announce Colin Trevorrow as the director of Star Wars: Episode IX today at Comic Con.

Rumors or not, this makes more than perfect sense, with Trevorrow’s huge success with Jurassic World practically guaranteeing him any project at this point, including something as high profile as Star Wars.

He’s definitely in the same vein as J.J. Abrams in terms of wanting to be the next Steven Spielberg, but mostly failing.

Abrams didn’t exactly shit the bed with his attempted Star Trek films, while I personally think that Trevorrow’s Jurassic World more than borrows from the previous films in the franchise at wholesale.

Still, he’d make for a very safe and capable gun-for-hire when it comes to carrying on the flagship series of Star Wars.

Here’s the sourced scoop:

Today at the Star Wars Comic Con panel, Lucasfilm will bring out Colin Trevorrow onto the  stage at Hall H to announce him as the next director of Star Wars: Episode 9!
