Robert Zemeckis Returns To Live-Action With Flight, Starring Denzel Washington (Trailer)

Director Robert Zemeckis hasn’t done a live-action film in ages; instead he’s been toying with motion capture. His most recent films include The Polar Express, Beowulf and A Christmas Carol, but now he’ll be returning to live-action with Flight, starring Denzel Washington.

The first trailer is online (via Apple) and it’s kind of great. A lot of people are already judging Zemeckis’ return, with comments on the plausibility of the story and the over-reveal of crucial plot points, but I think a film like this is going to be a tough sell (story wise, not acting power) and the trailer gives you just enough information to understand what the actual film is about.

It could have easily sold you on the intense plane lading, but then undersold the dramatic outcome, or vice versa, but it instead settles on mixing the two and I couldn’t ask for a better trailer.

Flight stars Denzel Washington, Don Cheadle and John Goodman. It opens in theaters on November 2nd, 2012.
