Shane Black‘s Iron Man 3 has grown on me. One of the main reasons that I’ve slowly started to like it more and more is because it gave us a satisfying conclusion to the character of Tony Stark aka Iron Man in terms of his own films.
The film had one of those complete endings that could’ve easily removed Robert Downey Jr. from the rest of Marvel’s cinematic universe, but obviously they chose to bring him back into several other productions, including the upcoming Captain America: Civil War and most recently Spider-Man: Homecoming.
But now things are starting to get interesting, with RDJ changing his tune and offering up some words in regards to another solo outing for the character:
“I feel like I could do one more,”
Yeah, that’s not exactly confirmation, but that’s a good indicator of where RDJ stands with Marvel, Iron Man and the whole cinematic universe.
He currently makes the most out of anyone on a Marvel film, which might be why Disney hasn’t been so hot to rush him into a full-fledged sequel.
But, it has been a few years since Iron Man 3 and if he did get a solo film they probably couldn’t squeeze him in until maybe 2019-2021, which would make Iron Man 4 have a decent amount of build up behind it to consider it an event film that’s just as big as an Avengers flick.
Should they do it?
