The Red Hot Chili Peppers today released their new music video for their single The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie. The music video takes place on a rooftop in Venice Beach. This would be their first music video in 4 years and the first to include new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.
The video seems to be pretty simple. Its just the legendary funk rock band playing on a rooftop. The band explained the video in this short statement thanks to wegotthiscovered
We wanted to go be outside and be free and play and see what happened.” Flea said, “We knew that if we just got with our nature of where we live that it would be beautiful. We shot it on 16mm film, which really gave it a nice look, and we love each other, we love playing our music and we love our song.” Kiedis continued, “It’s a nice place to be. There are palm trees, there are waves, there are people. I think [drummer] Chad Smith brought the grit.
The video looks like a classic music video coming out of the 1990s with the 16 mm film. It gives it that grainy saturated look from what it seems to me. Though I know nothing of film so I could sound like a complete jackass right now.
As for the song, it is classic RHCP style. A jazzy/funky baseline from Flea and Chad Smith’s funky drumming chops to compliment it. All while Anthony Kiedis lays down his smooth vocals and Josh Klinghoffer provides the guitar scratches, and overall grittiness of the song.
Their new album I’m With You hits the shelves August 30th and it will contain their latest hit The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie. Be sure to check it out!
