Ridley Scott is hot off the success of his latest film The Martian, which means he can do whatever he pleases on his next film. Well, he tends to do that regardless of box office success, but it is nice knowing that Scott will be heading into his long-awaited Prometheus sequel with positive juices flowing.
The film has been talked about forever, but is only now finally becoming a reality, with a confirmed title card getting released.
The film will be titled Alien: Covenant, which links it closer and closer to the Alien series, while still maintaining that messy fun that some of us enjoyed with Prometheus.
I’m all for more Prometheus/Alien films, especially with a reinvigorated Scott behind the lens.
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
