For being such a reclusive filmmaker Terrence Malick is making a big splash in Hollywood as of late. We literally just posted news for his upcoming films Lawless and Knight of Cups and now we’re back discussing his untitled love story that is rumored to be called The Burial.
Here is the synopsis that we’ve all been waiting for!
“[I]t concerns a philanderer (Ben Affleck) who, feeling at loose ends, travels to Paris, where he enters a hot-and-heavy affair with a European woman (Olga Kurylenko). Said Lothario returns home to Oklahoma, where he marries the European woman (in part for visa reasons). When the relationship founders, he rekindles a romance with a hometown girl (Rachel McAdams) with whom he’s had a long history.”
This sounds like a total change of pace from the brilliant Tree of Life, but it also sounds like something right up Malick’s alley. He’s a master at crafting very personal films and this one sounds very personal. The untitled love story stars Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Olga Kurylenko, Javier Bardem, Rachel Weisz, Michael Sheen and Jessica Chastain.
The film is scheduled for release sometime in 2012. Rumors say it could be appearing at Cannes in May!
