2012 was home to many surprisingly good flicks. One of them happens to be Phil Lord and Chris Miller‘s hilarious 21 Jump Street, starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.
Honestly, I had no idea what to expect with that one and somehow it went on to be the funniest film of the year.
A sequel was greenlit rather quickly, since the film performed well and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
I was initially worried, but the signing of the two directors, plus most of the cast, has me mostly looking forward to 22 Jump Street.
Today, we have an official plot to look at and get excited for:
“22 Jump Street” follows officers Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum) as they go deep undercover at a local college. But when Jenko meets a kindred spirit on the football team and Schmidt infiltrates the bohemian art major scene, they begin to question their partnership. In addition to cracking the case, the two freshmen must figure out if they can have a mature relationship like real men.
Comedy sequels rarely top the originals, but I’m still remaining hopeful. The film sounds different enough for them to be able to churn out some new comedic material, but one should still approach with caution until it’s all said and done.
22 Jump Street should hit theaters next June.
