Even though it’s only 2013, Disney is already hard at work figuring out their schedule for the summer of 2015. We recently learned that Disney and Marvel had moved Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man from November 9th, 2015 to July 31st. Disney did not stop there. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has unexpectedly removed Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales off the 2015 schedule completely.
The film has apparently been delayed because of the production start date was pushed back and there have been issues with the script. I wouldn’t doubt that Disney decided to push the film back because of the summer already being packed.
Johnny Depp is currently the only actor attached to the sequel. Kon-Tiki directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg are set to direct from a screenplay by Jeff Nathanson. According to Deadline, production is expected to begin next February and that there’s a possibility that the film will be released in the summer of 2016. What are your thoughts on the delay?
