Remember when Peter Jackson produced Steven Spielberg‘s The Adventures of Tintin? Boy, what an action-packed adventure that film was. I really enjoyed Tintin, going as highly as saying that it reminded me of the fun days of the Indiana Jones films, where movies could be adventurous and fun and not so damn gritty and serious all of the time.
The animation was top notch and almost all of the performances were memorable, yet the film didn’t click in the U.S., with most of its numbers coming from overseas.
Still, Jackson and Spielberg both announced that they’d swap producing/directing duties, which meant that Jackson would direct the sequel, which is now rumored to be titled The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun.
When is the sequel scheduled to start production? Jackson has confirmed that he’ll begin working on it right after he finishes up with the third Hobbit film.
Here’s a quote:
“As soon as I’m free of ‘The Hobbit,’ I’ll be going back into doing ‘Tintin.’ It was held up by The Hobbit, but we have every intention of doing another Tintin movie and it’s just waiting on me to be done with these ‘Hobbit’ movies,” said Jackson.
