Paul Greengrass Returns With ‘Captain Phillips’; Check Out The First Trailer

Director Paul Greengrass is most known for his work on The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. He pretty much invented the modern use of shaky cam with the only difference between him and other filmmakers is that he actually knows how to use it to better a scene or a movie entirely.

He managed to make the criminally underrated Green Zone that much more intense with his camera methods. He also works really well with Matt Damon.

Greengrass is finally back as a director with Captain Phillips, which stars Tom Hanks and tells a story about the 2009 Somali pirates hijacking.

The first trailer is gritty and shows off Greengrass’ style, which has been described by some as docu-drama filmmaking. I like that term and I think it fits him just right.

Captain Phillips opens on October 11th, 2013.
