Just what we need, another damn Paranormal Activity, but this time the idiots that brought us Catfish are at the helm, those idiots being Henry Joost and Ariel Shulman. Oren Peli and Jason Blum will be returning as producers, with Christopher B. Landon writing. I almost forgot that these movies had writers.
At least this new trailer is trying to go somewhere different. It takes place in the 1980s, when Katie was a child. The main problem I have with these films are the cheap tricks to get a scare. The first one took me by surprise and actually had me jump a few times in theaters and the second one managed to make me laugh for a good portion of the film. It felt like a clear cash grab at the first one. You could easily tell that the first one was made with good intentions by a young filmmaker that wanted to get his name out there. The second one was simply a studio horror film dumbed down to look like a cheap independent film and it failed horribly in my mind, but not that the box office, which is all that matters!
Expect 5 more of these damn movies!
Paranormal Activity 3 will open on October 21st, 2011.
