Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel hits Blu-ray this Tuesday. I’m actually looking forward to revisiting the film, because my initial theatrical viewing left me slightly disappointed. However, the film did grow on me with repeat viewings. I still consider it a flawed, but worthwhile origins tale, giving us the gritty and realistic Superman that we never really knew that we needed.
Anyways, with that comes even more news or should I say rumors, regarding the upcoming hot topic, Batman vs. Superman. Right now, there’s talk of various actresses screen-testing for the role of Wonder Woman, like Olga Kurylenko and even Thor: The Dark World‘s Jamie Alexander.
Here’s a quote from Alexander, regarding the character and the importance of strong female roles among the comic book movie world:
“I’m a huge fan of Wonder Woman. I really think if this is the closest that we’re ever going to get to Wonder Woman, then I’m proud to play Sif. I hope that other comic book entities can learn a lesson from Marvel in how to execute a female character the way it should be done. I really would like to one day see a Wonder Woman film or Wonder Woman character, but until it’s done with class, I’d rather it not be done.”
Also, we’ve got more rumors surrounding a casting call for Dick Grayson aka Nightwing. Apparently WB is looking for a “young John Hawkes-type character.”
Will any of this amount to anything or is WB simply blowing some smoke in hopes of keeping the real secrets guarded heavily? I’m willing to bet more of these questions get answered once the film drops on Blu next Tuesday.
