I’m sure many of you will agree with me. Stephen King’s 1974 novel Carrie and Brian De Palma’s 1976 adaptation are all-time classics. There are no questions about it. The character of Carrie has become such an iconic character in the horror genre. Like many horror remakes that have come before it, the announcement of another Carrie remake was met with a bit of hesitation. If you happen to still be a bit hesitant, take a deep breath because a brand new trailer has just been unleashed online. The trailer is a bit revealing, but also effective.
Boys Don’t Cry and Stop-Loss director Kimberly Pierce stepped behind the camera to not remake Brian De Palma’s film, but to focus more intently on Stephen King’s original novel. Chloe Grace Moretz stars as the titular character, a small-town teen bullied by her peers and tormented by her abusive religious mother, played by Julianne Moore. As Carrie‘s rage and alienation build from constant ridicule and a longing to be “normal,” she discovers the depths of her unusual power. And come prom time, everyone must pay.
There have been concerns over this new trailer specifically because many feel that it spoils a lot of important elements. While the new trailer does reveal a bit too much for those who aren’t familiar with the original Carrie, horror fanatics and followers of pop culture were already expecting a blood-soaked and chaotic prom night. I’m also willing to bet that Kimberly Pierce will be offering a few surprises. Check out the trailer below:
Carrie comes out in theaters on October 18th, 2013. What do you think of the new trailer? Do you think the new trailer spoils too much? Make sure to post your comments below.
