Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming “monsters vs. robots” flick Pacific Rim is going to be one of those films that’ll just be ridiculously fun to watch. Every single time I watch the trailer, I feel like a young giddy child who just watched something spectacular. I won’t be surprised if Pacific Rim turns out be a box office hit. Many would say that the film doesn’t have an A-List star leading the cast to make a substantial profit, but when you have giant robots throwing punches at giant monsters, nothing else seems to matter. A new theatrical poster for Pacific Rim has made its way online and it promises that the film will be massive in scale. Check out the poster below.
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes–a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)–who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
Pacific Rim is set to be unleashed into theaters on July 12th. The film will be in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D. The film stars Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman.
